Before you order
R-448A cuts GWP by roughly two-thirds versus R-404A while running on the same POE oil, which is why most rack conversions land here.
Discharge temperatures run higher than R-404A. Check compressor limits and consider head-pressure management before converting.
Safe handling
- Verify the equipment nameplate specifies R-448A and note the approved charge before connecting.
- This system requires POE (polyol ester). Mixing incompatible lubricants causes compressor failure.
- Charge in the liquid phase only — vapour charging shifts the composition of a blend.
- Use gauges, hoses and recovery equipment rated for this refrigerant’s operating pressures.
- Store upright and secured, in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame.
- Recover refrigerant — knowingly venting is a violation of Clean Air Act Section 608.

Free FedEx Ground on every cylinder within the contiguous United States, typically 2–5 business days after pickup. Ground service only — compressed refrigerant does not travel by air. We cannot deliver to PO boxes, APO/FPO addresses, Alaska, Hawaii or US territories. A signature is required.
